The Reverend Paul Wehner
Interim Rector

Our Interim Rector, Rev. Paul Wehner, last served as Rector of Calvary Episcopal Church in Richmond for eight years until his retirement in 2019. He previously served at Grace Episcopal Church in Galveston and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Beaumont. He and Sherry, his wife of fifty-one years, live in Sugar Land with two of their grandchildren: Amber, 14, and Travis, 12. The four of them have been together for almost eleven years, and they have always enjoyed being part of a larger church family. Therefore, they very much look forward to becoming part of the family at St. Mary’s.
Before following his calling to ordained ministry, Fr. Paul worked as a marketing manager in the oil business for many years, including living in Singapore for five years. His years of international travel gave him a broad prospective of the hardships that ordinary people face in their daily lives throughout the world. He therefore has a passion to spread the good news of Jesus Christ by finding ways that the churches he serves can effectively share their resources and love of God with those in need.
Fr. Paul has been on a variety of Boards and civic organizations, and just recently competed his second term as a board member of the Episcopal Foundation of Texas. He and Sherry have also been Camp Directors at Camp Allen for the J-high campers during many summers. He is a life-long UT Longhorn and not the least bit discouraged by the recent years of bad luck.
